How long after Depo Provera to have period? My last injection was October 2005. My doctor informed me my period was supposed to return on or around January 2006. Here it is August 2, 2006 and no periods. Any suggestions to start my periods again? I was on Depo Provera for 6 months. From May 2005 until October 2005. I need my periods to start to conceive. How long naturally should I wait for it to get out of my system before consulting my doctor? I was planning on waiting until October 2006 since it would be a whole year from the last injection. What do you think?

tiger_lilly33186 replied: "My last Depo shot was in October 2004. As time went on in 2005, I started to freak out and asked my OB/GYN what I could do since my husband and I wanted a baby. She prescibed some birth control pills and my period came almost a week or two later in July 2005. As far as conceiving, don't hold your breath. Depo Provera does a number on your reproduction system. Like I said, I got my last injection in October 2004 and it wasn't until July 2006 that I was able to conceive. I blamed my husband though. >:) lol"

VICKY V replied: "thats good that you left the shots . that thing causes alot of problem i had those shots for 6 months too. and didnt like it i had my periods almost everyday not heavy period but always spotting and it was awful...so had to stop it so i waited a year to get it out of my system and get preg....but just go to your doc maybe she could give you some pills so you could get your normal period...but just go to your doc....."

saraidan replied: "I took my one and only Depo shot back in Feb. Here we are in august and no period. I went to my doctor and told him about it, He persrcibed me Medroxyprogesterone 100 mg tablets. He told me to take those for 10 days and then my period will come back. Then I can choose an alternative birth control, I didnt like the Depo shot. I would see the doctor if I were you."

(i took provera for 10 days, my last pill was april 28th i didnt get my period till may 10!! good luck..."

libertymae97 replied: "Just got done taking Provera to start my period. My last pill was Sunday and I started Wednesday ( so about 3 days). That has been my norm every time I have done the provera. Just remember the first day you see bright red blood count that as day 1. I'm saying this cause you might just spot the first day (that's what happens to me). I also have to do clomid day 5-9.
