How long does it take for breast augmentation scars to heal? I just got my breasts done through the nipple and I am wondering how long before the scars fade?

Dashy replied: "My scars took years to fade. Rub vitamin E on them and take vitamin E supplements too. Good luck. -S"

swrong replied: "It'll take about a year for it to really fade. If you're healed up (no scabs), you can try the silicone strips, those are awesome! You can find them on ebay pretty reasonably."

dreammergirl replied: "great question! since we are in the same boat, I had my surgery 2 weeks ago. Cut was made at the crease under my breast. I have been told that vitamin c speeds up process of healing also eating protein. As for lotion, I will ask my doctor when I go for check up, Im still wearing a surgical tape."

How long does it take to heal completly after a breast augmentation? I HAD A BREAST AUGMENTATION THIS PAST MONDAY. THEY SAID I SHOULD BE FINE ON THE THIRD DAY. TODAY IS THE FORTH DAY AND I'M STILL IN PAIN

pathfinder replied: "Impossible to determine, as everyone heals at a different rate."

Question for women who have had breast augmentation? I enjoy running long distances and I am also considering breast augmentation....however I am going to a very conservative size, large B to small C.....After the appropriate time to heal, and with the right sports bra, does it hurt or cause any discomfort to run? Does it cause back pain?

largegrasseatingmonster replied: "Yikes! Don't do it! There is nothing less appealing than pharmaceutical products in a woman's chest unless it's for reconstructive surgery. They won't feel natural, and over time will start to harden. Keep your breasts the way they are!"

Ashley J replied: "yes, no matter what kind of bra you wear. when you run. of course its gonna hurt your boobs.. no matter if they are real. or fake. mine are real. and it hurts reallyyy bad to run. =/ i have DDs and im 15. i buy sports bras just for pe. when we have to run the mile. they are about 200 bucks a piece.. uhm. if you wanna keep running. dont get an augmentation.. but its your choice.."

angeleenelson replied: "If you are going to spend all that money, why not go bigger? There really isn't much difference between a large B and small C. And no, after appropriate healing time, they will not hurt if you are wearing a very supportive sports bra while jogging. And if you are afraid of back pain, do some back strengthening exercises at the gym."

terin_blake replied: "i'm a 34b, i know they arent big, but i know of girls that play soccer with me with a big bra size and have no problem running. all i suggest is wear two sports bras, rather than just one. and go for it girl! good luck on the surgery."

glitter replied: "kay my mom just got it done. she got saline water implants though. she just went up to a 32 c or something like that. for the first 4 days she was in alot of pain and had hard time walking. but now its been like a week and some days. and shes fine. . and also if your thinking about getting silicone the healing process is gonna be faster. i'd say that saline water implants are much better because if one of them were to burst for some reason then the body wouldnt react to it. it would just blend in with your body and not cause harm at all and could be done again. but when its with silicone its gonna be the complete opposite. <3 glitter"

gsxerrider1000 replied: "My wife just had some installed and they are fantastic. I could never tell they where fake and she went from an A to DD. They where placed behind the muscle and with the new silicone implants you cant tell. The less expensive implants (saleen) are more noticeable and don’t feel real. I would spend the extra for the better implants IMO. As for running there will be an effect because you are adding weight to your chest but I think once healed and wearing the right sports braw you should be ok. I wopuld also recomend going bigger than a B or C. I say this because we where thinking the same as you and going more conservitive. But when it was all done the DD look great and are not all that bit. They are not so big they stand out but I would say big enough to where nice clothes. Your doctor should really help you. The dortor we used was recommended and he really new his stuff and guided use through alot of it."

Corey replied: "The size you are going for is not very big. After you have healed for a while, maybe 3-6 months, you shouldn't have any problem getting back to your normal routine without discomfort."

Breast augmentation for one breast larger than the other? Hey, I had an accident when I was younger and now one of my breasts are larger than the other, id say 1-2 cup sizes difference. Im pretty sure my insurance would cover it but im scared to have an operation. has anyone had a similar experiance? Will they look and feel the same? (like one obviously has an implant, the other doesnt?) Is an implant better than reduction? (one is like a b, other is a d) What kind of implants (silicone, etc) What does it feel like afterwards, how long to heal.. How do I know a good doctor from a bad one, or where to look up good doctors, or how can i choose one? My insurance doesnt cover many.

someoneoutthere replied: "I just saw something similar on the show Plastic Surgery Before & After. The woman didn't have an accident, this just happened to her. They did a reduction on one and did implants in both. They looked great after! Other than that, I don't know much other than I would like a "job" done as soon as I can afford it!"

Pinky replied: "No need to have an operation, the breast that is larger than the other, lets just say ur right breast, start working with ur right hand alot more than ur left, its like an exercise to keep ur right breast in shape, while ur other left breast is set still and lazy and it will grow over time and soon ur 2 breasts will look the same and have the same size!"

Poof replied: "Have them both done so they will not only appear the same size, but feel the same way too. Fake boobs feel different than real ones. Yes, use silicone versus saline. Salines are hard and look and feel less real."

Sarah D replied: "There is a way to get bigger breasts without surgery, pills or creams. I have followed the plan & I am a cup bigger in weeks. I love how my breasts are now."

Terri replied: "IMO I'd just go for a reduction since you have a D cup, but it is up to YOU as it is your body. Do you prefer the B cup size or the D cup size? Check out that site, there is an excellent forum there for you to find out all the information you are asking about. I had a reduction Feb 2006 and don't regret it one bit!"

Emily replied: "Breast implant surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Tour2india4health Consultants .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America. Tour2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star. Hope this helps."

Areola reduction and breast augmentation (implants)? I'm about to undergo a breast augmentation with areola reduction. I'm a little worried about the procedure and the results. Has anyone else had this done who could give me some advice or tell me how yours went? How long it took to heal ect. It would be greatly appreciated.

justme replied: "i have never had the surgery but i would love to be in your position but cant due to money.. but i wanted to wish you luck and hope everything turns out well!"

straycat replied: "You'll feel fine when you wake up but that day will be fuzzy. As as far as satisfaction with the results -it depends on the surgeon. Healing depends on your usual rate of healing. You wear little strips over the incisions until they fall off by themselves. be sure to use "mederm" on the scars-it's great and really makes the scars go away. Tips on the procedure: Be sure the surgeon knows what you want-take pictures of breasts you like. You can print off web sites of surgeons and use detail, such as high projection, shape, size type of implant....Another thought-do you really want to reduce the size of your areola if you will be making your breasts bigger? Just a thought. Hope this helps-and good luck."

Robyn . replied: "I just had my implants removed actually. I also had an areola reduction and circumareola lift. I had implants put in at age 21. They got really hard, so I had corrective surgery. Then they got hard again, and they also stretched out my areolas. So I had surgery AGAIN, only this time they replaced the implants, lifted and reduced the size of my areola. Then they just stretched out again and the implants got hard....again. Not only that, but in the 4th year, they sagged, BIG TIME. My nipples were almost pointing downward! Finally I was so sick of all the problems and the gross side-effects of implants (hardness, unnatural shape, coldness - a lot of times they are colder than the rest of your body) so I got them removed. That was 3 weeks ago and I've never been happier. They look perfect! They are warm again, natural looking and my areolas are tiny and perky. They won't stretch out either because there isn't the tension of the implant underneath them - and my surgeon used permanent stitches on the inside of the skin. My advice is not to get implants. What doctors won't tell you is that over 50% of implants rupture within 10 years!!! You won't always know if it ruptured either, it can be very minimal, causing your health to very slowly deteriorate. Also, capsular contracture is VERY common. The doctor told me it was 1 in 70 - but it's more like 1 in 5. Even if the capsular contracture is mild and almost unnoticeable, you and any guy you sleep with will be able to tell when your breasts are grabbed. Bottom line: implants are gross. They are foreign to your body and your body will constantly be dealing with them, which will use up your energy resources. You may feel totally fine and healthy, but who is to say that you'll feel that way after 20 years of implants? Which leads me to my next point - are you prepared to have multiple surgeries? Sure, they say implants are guaranteed for life, but that's rare. You will most likely need more work done, because your breasts WILL sag - that's what big boobs do, they sag! Also, if you're like most women, you'll want to replace the implants at a certain time in your life... especially after having kids. Oh yeah, it's proven that breast feeding with implants DOES affect the baby. So, do you really want big, hard chemical balls in your chest, sitting on top of your heart? Just do the areola reduction - natural boobs are waaaay more beautiful, guys think so too! I asked many guys about this and every guy I spoke to said that he'd rather be with a girl who had small and natural boobs than big fake ones. Hope I helped!"

Rudolf F replied: "Last year my best friend underwent a breast implants procedure and the results look really good so far. In my state a there are certain plastic surgeons that are better than others. I'd consult plastic surgeons in your area and see what they have to offer. A local cosmetic surgeon should be able to answer your questions."

PageantMommy replied: "I just had surgery exactly 3 weeks ago today, and right now I'm pretty happy with the results. I had a lift, augmentation, and areola reduction. I had a TUBA, they went through the belly button, so I don't have any information about scarring or anything like that. They are still high on my chest and really tight, but when they settle down, I think they are going to be gorgeous. The only thing I wish my dr would have told me is how high and tight they are going to be. It feels like I have a Charlie Horse in my chest 24/7! But she said it's normal. I went back to work after 6 days, and I was up walking that night. The day after surgery will be the worst, I hope you have someone there to take care of you, cause you will need it."

Breast augmentation questions? I am 5'6, 130 lbs, 34A (barely), 23 yrs. old considering implants. I was thinking about a full C cup. What are your suggestions and comments. Are you happy with your surgery? How long does it take to heal? Saline or silicone? Are you able to breast feed later in life? What are your likes and dislikes?

destructivedes replied: "I personally have not had the surgery though I've done a lot of research because like you, I'm 5'2",130, and barely a 34A and I'm 20. My mom had the surgery several years ago and shes about your height and weight and size. She went to a C cup and has been very happy and they look great on her. I don't want this to sound weird as shes my mom, haha but they do feel natural and look it as well. She went with saline because its safer. She's never had a problem with them but if for a freak reason they were to pop or leak the saline wouldn't hurt her body. I do know silicone is safer nowadays then it used to be but you might want to look it up. I do believe your able to breast feed, as the implants go behind the muscle tissue. It only took my mom a few weeks to heal. That's about all the info I can give you. Good luck! and if you get it done let me know how it went!! I'm hoping to get this one day to!"

just lise replied: "I got implants at about your age (I'm now 46) and it was the worst decision I ever made. I was barely an A cup as well and went to a D cup. They're now so hard and unnatural-looking and feeling. I very much regret them. Mine are saline. I never wanted children so I don't know about the breast-feeding thing. As I recall, the healing time was a few days. I remember being sore but not terribly so. Everyone I've talked to who has gotten them always regret that they went as big as they did, so if you go ahead with it, carefully consider the size. (Men like them...lol...I just don't.)"

Terri replied: "http://www.breasthealthonline.com Check out those sites. You should ONLY go as big as what would be proportional to your body frame. Do not go above a full C or your back will hate you for it."

I'm having breast augmentation surgery thursday. 600cc too much? I'm 5'6 and 145 pounds. My dr suggested that I do that big because I'll be more porpotionate.I'm a mom of girls ages 1 and 4. How long did it take to heal too? Its already paid for and not changing mind. Serious answers only and prefer women who've experienced this.

Jessica replied: "If by thursday you mean today I guess I'm too late but just in case you meant next thursday: 600cc is a lot but I would trust your doctor. Chances are he/she has done this A LOT and knows your body well. I went under the muscle and the first 3 days I was in bed pretty much the entire time. The pain wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (I had percocet which I highly recommend requesting, and you may also want to request a valium for the night before and day of the surgery so you'll be relaxed). The pain was positional so it only hurt when I sat up or changed positions. By the 4th day I was up out of bed but still not completely back to normal. Kinda felt like I had worked out really hard. I couldn't pick up anything heavy for a long time so it might be difficult for you with two little girls who will want to be picked up. But let me tell you I had my breasts done 6 months ago and I couldn't be happier. I'm sure you'll feel the same way. Best of luck to you, congratulations, and I'm sure you'll look beautiful!"

5'6 145 pounds, breast augmentation thursday. 650 cc too much? I'm having surgery thursday and I initially went with 500cc but my dr suggested 650cc to make me more porpotionate. I'm going with mentor silicone high profile under muscle soft. Already paid for and not changing mind. Serious answers only please. I'm also mother or 2 little girls, ages 1 and 4. How long did you heal?

rlsteely replied: "I am a plastic surgeon in Houston and can tell you that 650cc is a large implant- but that size may be necessary to fill out your skin that you have due to having children. That being said, remember that the larger your implants are, the heavier they are. The heavier they are, the quicker you will have saggy breasts due to gravity. As far as healing goes, my patients tend to do very well after surgery and only end up taking one or two pain pills. I do however limit any heavy lifting (such as kids) for the first couple of weeks. I hope this helps"

Breast Augmentation? Please only people who have had it done.? I have a few questions about breast augmentation. I really want people who have had it done. Please no rude comments or opionions. Ive asked questions on here before and really hate it when someone says something rude. Okay. How long do you have to wait to get surgery after you stop breastfeeding? Also I'm 33 and have had 3 children. I'm a small B and the biggest my breast got due to breast feeding was a full C. will I need a lift too. or do you think they will fill out with a D implant? and I would like to know. how the breast plants were put in? through the nipple, navel, arm pit or underneath? Does the price range change with any of these and the healing time with them. and If I was to have another child later I wouldn't breast feed. but I'm wondering if they will be ruined due to pregnancy? I don't gain weight in my breast area. they stay the same... thanks guys...

Meggie replied: "There are several ways to insert the implants. Silicone implants can be inserted through the areola and the fold of the breast. Saline implants can be inserted almost anywhere armpit, navel, areola. Silicone implants feel the most natural. You shouldn't have trouble getting the size breasts that you want. There is always the possibilty that you would need to have a revision later in life depending on how well you take care of your breasts and the normal aging process. The price depends on the procedure and the type of implant and where or not you need a breast lift. Silicone implants can cost 1500 to 2000 / pair depending on texture, brand and size."

Sunshine replied: "First question....Usually When doing a lift ....filling out with a D helps a lot and prevents removing extra skin.... Second Question.....Through the nipple actually minimizes scarring so its the most popular procedure type.... Third question....Prices range differently depending on who does the procedure Doctor wise.... Healing time Can be about a week to two weeks where you can go back to doing normal things....but the swelling could take up to six months to subside.... You would not be able to breast feed because of where the implant is placed.... I also highly recommend checking the website for doctors who are accredited highly in plastic surgery....Definitely do your research... No need for having to do it over again because of some other doctors mistake.... good luck"

Stephanie B replied: "I have had it done. I have four kids and did not need a lift. That doesn't mean anything though. Most places will offer you a free consultation. A doctor would need to see to make an assumption on this part. There are multiple ways to go in, mine were put in from beneath. Scar isn't bad and I was told that if they ever went back in that this was the best way, and all is well. I don't know about the breastfeeding part. Also, after the surgery you'll be sore but not too bad. Make sure you follow all of the doctors orders to help you get the most satisfaction. They do not put in implants based on a cup size. They put in fluid range. I tried on different "bras" for him to determine how much fluid he recommended. Good luck, you'll love 'em!"

Sandy replied: "Welcome to the FDA website on breast implants. FDA’s mission is to assure that the products that we approve are safe and effective, and that includes breast implants. Breast implants are medical devices that typically consist of a silicone elastomer shell filled with saline or silicone gel. They are intended for women who are seeking breast augmentation (cosmetic) or breast reconstruction. This is an excellent site to help you make informed decisions. Click on the link and then Consumer Information"

december_changes replied: "You asked some toughies! I do however have one little hint for you. A friend had her second child after having the surgery. She said she had a lot more milk to breastfeed the second child. It may have to do with the presence of the implant. I had mine put in through the nipples and the only downside is you lose sensibility for about 2 months. Price range should not change according to method used, but according to surgeon and how famous he is (not necessarely trustworthy, though). I recommend you get a personal recommendation from someone. Goooood luck!"

Scuba after breast augmentation...? How long does one have to wait before they're able to dive again after having breast augmentation done? Of course this depends on person to person and their healing ability. I mean it depends from person to person in that there is a set time and then some... I've been told round about 3 months (but am not sure) as you not even suppose to go to the gym until after 6 weeks. So in essence 3 months and then depending on the person. I have a pretty good surgeon and we discussed the surgery in detail. This was just one question that I forgot to ask and will still clarify with him. I just wanted to ask you guys. Thanks. Donna: No the pressure won't make them "pop". The implant would have to contract five times within itself before it does rupture and by that time one would be long dead. Thanks Donna and JM6098 for your concern. I didn't even think of going to this web site, thanks again Donna.

*♥* donna *♥* replied: "Won't the pressure make them pop! That's OK then, i hate the thought of you coming out of the water like that woman in Bond with them dragging round your knees. I found this site which may help until you ask your surgeon,"

JM6098 replied: "As you said it's person to person. On average I would wait until ALL swelling and pain is gone (3-4 weeks). Don't risk your health please!"

The diamond swimmer replied: "ok all i can say that you just have to work at the gym first to prepare the lungs and the muscles for the effort do this while you are regularly visiting your doctor till he tells you that you are ok to go scuba diving and all my best wishes for you to be well soon."

Heretic replied: "Talk to you plastic surgeon. He can answer that for you. If not, DAN (Divers Alert Network) can answer that for you. 1-800-446-2671 is their toll free number in the US"
