Is it worth buying organic skin care products? I was checking out a web site (can't remember the name! Sorry!)
And it was a listing for every over the counter product on the market for Hair care & skin care. Each product is measured on scale from 0-10, 0 being the best, 10 being the worst. Most of the products I use for my skin falls in the middle (Moderate Hazard) with the exception of my Carmex lip balm (they said it was EXTREMELY hazardous to my health because of the ingredients)
Now I have made a step forward in terms of an organic lifestyle. (I drink organic milk and eat organic eggs. I've stopped relaxing my hair almost 2 years ago and use organic products in my hair)But I am afraid of trying to switch to Organic products in terms of skin care.
I have had acne for 11 years and it has ranged from a mild case of zits to a horrible case of Cystic acne on my back, chest and face that has left scarring and dark marks. I feel like for the first time in a long time I have some control over it.
1. I drink alot of water.
2. I use Dial Gold Bar soap to wash my body.
3. For my face Noxzema Triple Clean Antibacterial Wash, Noxzema Triple Clean Acne pads, Neutrogena's Invigorating foaming scrub and Retin-A.
(I know that is alot for my face, but nothing else has worked up to this point!)
4. To moisturize I just use Cetaphil Moisturizing Body lotion and the facial moisturizer with SPF 15.
But according to this website, I shouldn't be using any of my skin products because of the risks with the ingredients.
I fear that if I start to experiment with Organic skincare products, all of the Acne I fought to get rid of will come back tenfold!
Not to mention I'm on a very strict budget!
But I would like to use more Organic products in the future, but I'm afraid they will not serve their purpose and I will be stuck with bad skin and empty pockets!
What should I do?
ElizabethMichele replied: "Personally, the fewer chemicals and junk in my products the better, my body doesn't seem to like them very much. You'd be amazed at what little gifts nature has hidden in the world and how well they work. And you'd probably be surprised how many pharmaceuticals are made from plants (ephdra for example has been used in China for 5000 years to treat asthma and other respiratory aliments, I used it two months ago to treat a very severe asthma attack I was considering going to the hospital for).
I like Burt's Bee's, it's more natural than a lot of other products out there but isn't that expensive. Just go online and see what you can find, Tea Tree Oil is just as effective as benzoyl peroxide but without the harsh side effects. You can make your own products which in the long run will cost you less."
CHICK replied: "Not necessarily organic, but especially Natural is the way too go.. I read this book before.. called green something.. its about skincare and realized what i have been putting on my skin could cause disease over the years.. so now I stick with this one place which is 100% natural.. they have really great stuff and it is also Vegan which I am... so im so far doing great..... its honestly no worse than any synthetic products.. smells great too and perfect for sensitive skin... also since you have acne they have this product that I tried.. its called Acne...Be Gone!!! and it worked on me very well.. and if u look at the ingredients it may seem like it smells bad, but due to the lavender and bergamot it has a very floral citrus scent... well ill give you the link if u will be interested:
good luck!! and Im very proud that people are starting to understand about all those ingredients, and what they do.... I mean we can make skincare without them but we just choose to use hazardous ingredients on ourselves why? lol well sorry if its too long..."

Jerrick F replied: "I got these tips from.
Pick those products with these natural Ingredients that can help boost your body's collagen and elastin
1) Phytessence Wakame -- This is a special extract from a Japanese sea kelp. However, extracts of the sea kelp have been shown to have amazing properties in keeping the skin young. For example, phytessence wakame attacks a harmful enzyme in the body, which breans down a needed substance called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid works with your two most important skin proteins collagen and elastin to keep your skin supple and smooth.
2) Grapeseed Oil - Grapeseed oil is a potent antioxidant. When used for skin care, the application of it creates an invisible film on your skin, to keep moisture locked in. The antioxidant properties fight off free radicals, which is one of the leading causes of skin cell destruction and aging.
3) Nano-Lipobelle H EQ10 - This is a wildly popular and expensive anti-aging nutritional supplement. It penetrates deeply into your skin. In scientific studies, it produces a dramatic anti-wrinkle effect as it is a powerful anti-oxidant that works deeply in the layers of your skin."

Juice Beauty Organic vs. Marcelle vs. other skin care products? I have acne-prone skin, nothing severe, but random blemishes around my face, especially on my forehead and chin. Also, my skin can get really oily, but can also be stubbornly dry in other areas.. if that helps.
I've been using Neutrogena products for the past two months or so, it's been helping, some days are definitely better than others, but its not doing much for a long-term effect, so I was thinking of changing it up.
Help! Any recommendations, home remedies, products, tips, hints, ect, ect will be greatly appreciated.

Good skin care products for blemish prone dry skin? I have dry skin with few acne marks /white & black heads . I am looking for a good skin care product line that will help me get clear smooth skin..I am thinking of OLAY or Aubrey ( I am keen to go for organic products)..If any of you have got good results with these , please let me know which one can help me..Also suggest the specific product names ..
Rihan replied: "origins are known to be one of the best organic products however its got a price on their products. ive read the reviews and they all seem to be good."
Rosie replied: "usr,
I recommend what I use; Preve extreme anti aging by Isabella Pelle. It's made specifically for fine lines/wrinkles. It has the highest concentration of "peptides" active ingredients to fight them. Also has the highest concentration of the best known moisturizer, hyaluronic acid. This has kept my skin baby smooth.
Last month they came out with a more concentrated version of Preve called Cura. It's everything Preve except they concentrated it to extreme. I got it 2 weeks ago; it's excellent. What you need to do is decide which one works best for you. I recommend both.
Google Isabella Pelle
btw - they ship 4 free, made in USA, and do not test on animals"
xfoxylady_x replied: "I use clearasil daily wash followed by Biore warming blackhead clearing scrub followed by superdrugs brand of tea tree foaming face wash finished with tea tree toner i finish off with the Simple oil balancing moisturizer."
selina j replied: "If you want to go completely organic, try using these recipes and tools that will save you money and won't ever irritate your skin:
1. Olive oil- Great for moisturizing and smoothing skin. Try applying olive oil a clean, dry face and leaving it on for 10-15 minutes. Then rinse it off with warm water and pat your face dry. You could do this every day if you wanted, because it won't over-grease your face.
2. Lemon- This is the number one enemy of blackheads. If you cut a lemon in half and rub it all over your face, concentrating on the areas with blackheads, they will be gone in a matter of seconds. Be careful not to leave it on for more than 30 seconds and not to pair with acne medication [products containing salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, which you shouldn't use anyway because it will only dry out your skin more].
3. Sea salt- Sea salt makes a great exfoliator. Just don't rub too hard, because it's really rough.
4. Mint, Banana, Honey- Take a handful of mint leaves and crush them into a paste, then mic in a half of a banana, a squirt of honey, and an egg white. Mash it all together and apply it to a clean, dry face. Then leave it on until it dries and rinse it off with lukewarm water. You will see within a few hours that your blemishes are less red and inflamed and your face feels refreshed.
5. Rice water- Rice water makes a terrific toner. You'll need some boiling water, a cup of uncooked [ORGANIC] rice, and an empty container with a lid [a small spray bottle would work, too]. Pour the rice into a bowl and pour the water over the rice until the rice is covered and there is about an inch of water above the rice. Stir this mixture until the water turns cloudy, and then strain the water into the empty container and you're done! You now have a gentle toner that actually does the job, even though it doesn't sound as if it would.
Some other things that are good for your skin are oatmeal, honey, cucumber, and almond oil.
***Warning: When using vegetables, fruits, and grains on your skin, it is important to use all organic produce, as pesticides may harm your skin.
Good luck!!!!"
Liz replied: "You want to work on your skin from the inside out. Strange concept - I know, and you won't get over night results - but in the long run, you'll be better for it.
Drink a Dixie cup (1-2 oz) of Aloe juice a day. Think of what Aloe does when applied topically for sunburn, so just imagine what it can do when taken orally. Don't worry, it comes in flavors! It basically tastes like a sugar free fruit juice!!
Also think about your diet and if you're taking any supplements. You should think about taking something with a power anti-oxidant as well as something that has Vitamin C & E in it.
I hope that helps!!"
Snowflake replied: "THIS IS MY LONG ANSWER FOR ALL OILY SKIN/ACNE PROBS...TRYING TO COVER ALL I KNOW ABOUT ACNE/SPOT PROBLEMS FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE...SO HOPEFULLY THERE'LL BE SOMETHING HERE TO HELP!!! SOME MIGHT NOT BE RELEVANT DEPENDING ON YOUR SEX BUT I HOPE SOMETHING'LL BE HERE FOR YOU!
I'm 35 and I still get spots/pimple clusters from time to time and even when they go, they leave reddish marks for ages and my skin looks blotchy.
I use clean and clear or neutrogena clear skin - both contain salicylic acid which prevents breakouts and gradually evens the skin tone out too. And crazy as it sounds - the toothpaste things works! Put on a blob at night and put a bit of tissue over it so it doesn't make a mess. I dunno how it works but it does!
Any female with spots I'd recommend trying dianette or yasmin contraceptive pills because if it's hormonal, that can sort out the kind of hormonal pimples you might get monthly!
Be careful what products you use in your hair if it's long - certain conditioners have causes me to break out at times.
Also I'd recommend taking a 100% multi vitamin/mineral complex and Omega 369 oils every day because that ensures you're getting the right nutrition and also, the omega oils improve blood flow.
It's an 'old wives tale' type rememdy - but a spoonful of cider vinegar and honey in hot water 3 times a day is meant to help EVERYTHING. It tastes nice too...kinda like honey and lemon X
Also...keep your hydration right by drinking plenty of water, avoiding caffeine and alcohol and too much salt!
Another suggestion is the scrub you can get called 'resurface' or something like that - made by L'oreal. You only use it a couple of times a week (and use at night because it makes your face red!). It really works not just with the colouring but also the texture - smoothes it back out. It comes with it's own moisturiser which I don't use but I use the scrub at night a couple of times a week and put bio oil on which it supposed to help clear scarring and even skin tone.
Don't use harsh scrubs and peroxide products daily like some people do; that can dry your skin and make produce MORE oil...just exaccerbating the problem.
And my final suggestion is 'sheer cover' mineral foundation. You see it on infomercials a lot...tacky I know! But it really works. You can buy it on eBay too so it's easy for you to get some to try it out. You use the tiniest amount but because it doesn't settle into enlarged pores and it contains minerals that reflect light, it disguises any kind of 'scarring' and also it stops you getting spots because it doesn't block pores. The minerals in it reflect light a bit too which acts as a kind of concealer. It's hard to explain but it's fantastic. Just make sure not to use too much - and apply with a kabuki brush starting from the outside and working in so you don't end up with an over made up nose!
I know people say make up's a no no - but because this doesn't block pores and has the added effect of stopping you touching your face too much, I think it's good. You can wear it on its own too and as long as you apply it minimally, it covers but doesn't look like you've got make up on.
Good luck with it hun XX
PS - if you can get them, clean & clear do these blotting paper things - in the uk I find I have to order them in from Hong Kong or somewhere cos they stopped doing them here - but they're REALLY good.
And if your face gets really greasy, just blot with a tissue if you can't find those. Some tissues are to fluffy so I tend to carry around a few sheets of kitchen roll for the purpose!!!
PPS - If you get your skin relatively under control, try using '21 days Fade Cream' (which I get from eBay) because it quickly clears up any scarring. I can only use it once a day though because otherwise (even though it's a 'cream-gel') it can make my skin a bit greasy again so I tend to use that at night but only during periods that my skin's doing 'good'!"
Medsourcemegan replied: "I love Olay products. They're non-comodogenic (don't cause pimples and don't clog pores) and they really help your skin to have that healthy glow. I'm a fan of Olay Definity and Olay Total Effects. If you want a cleanser, you could also try the Olay Moisture Balancing Foaming Face Wash. It's nice.
Good luck!"
Do you know of an organic remedy to help clear up acne? I have acne and I've had it for years. I'm 28 and I still can't fight my acne problems. When I was younger my acne was worse then it is now. Now I just break out periodically. I do tend to break out on my neck and back the worse. I don't like using over the counter drugs because I've gotten sick of them. Most products I buy don't really take care of my acne problems. I really believe in organic remedies. Do you know of any organic remedies for clearing up acne?
mikedosentcare replied: "Aloe Vera definitely cleared up acne for me, also try rubbing apple cider vinegar on your acne (I use both everyday and have no acne). You can always go to your nearest health food store and find something natural there to clear up your acne

Veekay replied: "Maybe you can try dietary changes--hard, I know, but doesn't require buying more acne products. Some good suggestions on this page:
It may be helpful to keep a food journal if you can, so you can find out if you break out after eating certain foods.
Switch to more natural/organic beauty products that don't have a lot of chemicals or perfumes because those can really irritate acne-prone skin.
Sometimes when I have a bad breakout I prick a Vitamin E gelcap, squeeze the E onto my finger and gently apply it to the affected area. Seems to help."
leah [♥'s music] replied: "Green tea & fish oil. They work! Drink two glasses of green tea every day (not the guers/lipton stuff, the stuff you brew at home) and take 2 pills that contain fish oil (you can find them at LA Weight Loss Centers) every day. You will see results quickly, I did. Also keep a daily regimine of washing your face, using a toner, etc."
glen p replied: "One old-fashioned remedy is cooked oatmeal. Let it cool, wash your face, smear it on and let it sit for about twenty minutes, then wash it off. You can also get oatmeal soaps at the supermarket. When you bathe, ( which should be at least once or twice a day) use the oatmeal soap on the affected areas. It worked for me when I was a teenager. Good luck!"
Acne that never goes away!!? I've had acne ever since the middle of 8th grade, when I really hit puberty hard. Since then I've been getting excessive amounts of acne appearing everywhere on my face (and on my body).
From that point on, I've been caring for my face(and body) a lot, not excessively though (although I've have tried it). I've used products from Neutragena, Clearasel, Pro-active, Sulfur, Benzol Poraxide, Organic products, Acne kits, Scar repairs, and even African black soap intended for acne. As for my body acne, I've got acne and scars all over my back, legs, chest, and...down there.
None have worked for me, and I mean none. They havn't prevented my acne, my face does not look clearer using their products, and sulfur only made me smell awful.
I am now a Highschool Junior, and I still get the excessive amounts of acne as I've always have. I wash my face morning, midday, and night, and shower every day.
I've come across many remedies and many techniques(hot/cold compress, honey, vitamins, no dairy products, better diet) none worked...I can say the only thing that HAS worked for me was sun tanning. The tanning almost removed most of my scars and made my face clear but as the weeks and months went by the acne and scars came back.
Now I'm coming to yahoo questions, In frustration, and for help. I'm wondering if anyone has ever been in my helpless situation. Trying mostly every product in existence, and trying mostly every technique or remedy possible.
My last resort is to visit a dermatologist and get a prescription of that one pill you take for 6 months.
I hope I don't have to resort to that.

Its all fruits, veggies and herbs, so amazing, they sell so awesome you Will wanna eat them! Love love love them! Did I mention how much I love them? They have masks, cleansers, toners, whatever you will need for acne. Possible the Eucalyptus cleanser if you are oily, Sugar Plum is Oily Skin Moisturizer, Garlic Toma toe Mask for Acne, there are so many others, if you can, fins a place that carries the line to pick out you specific products for your skin type."

I have bad skin becoz i dont drink enough water & carry too much testosterone....."

Organic / Herbal Skin Care? Can someone please recommend a good organic / herbal skin care line to me?
I'm mainly looking for a face cleanser + moisturizer.
I'm from england and have combination skin (which includes acne), if that makes any difference lol. I'm willing to buy from overseas ... but i'd rather not, having bad experiences in the past.
Also ... u know ... the cheaper the better lol. I'm 16 and have to buy my own face products so .. i'm not exactly rolling in money lol
Thanks alot xx

What is your favorite Dr. Hauschka skin care product? I have started using the cleansing cream for about a month and already have cleared my complexion of some acne around my nose and flaky skin on my forehead. Because I have sensitive skin I decided to try Dr. Hauschka because of its natural ingredients. It has herbs that seem to react well with my skin: marigold, chamomile, St. John's wort and kidney vetch. I find it refreshing and am using it twice a day - lets hope it makes me look younger!
Here is a link if you've never heard of this brand before: - I have had a problem with blackheads but this is tightening my pores and I don't find I'm getting them as often.
Would like to hear suggestions from other people on which products are worth it. Because organic is so expensive I'd rather hear it from another person if they think something is worth it before spending money on products especially when I'm buying it online - I can't find this brand in my local pharmac
