About Vicodin For Fever in Q&A
Would it be safe to take Vicodin If you have a BAD Headache & Fever? I had A fever with headache last night and took Tylenol, advil and others and nothing helped. The fever went down but the Headache still was killing me. Will vicodin reduce the fever as well as taking care of this really bad Headache? I think the Headache is from the Fever so I'm trying to figure out if Vicodin would help both.

Pangolin replied: "It might help, but if it wasn't prescribed for it, you shouldn't take it without asking your doctor first. A bad headache could be the sign of something serious, like meningitis or a leaking aneurysm, or it could be a migraine, which requires a different class of drugs. Call your doctor."

veronicawilliams1969 replied: "It would be safe if the prescription belongs to you."

What is wrong with me? I have sore throat, fever, aches, and blisters covering my mouth and tounge? I am a 19-year old female, about to start my summer job after Memorial Day, but I got sick last Tuesday. The doctors said it was NOT strep throat or Mono, and they put me on a 5 day antibiotic and Vicodin for the pain. The fever has persisted for 5 days and the blisters/sores in my mouth have gotten worse, what could possiblly be wrong?

Olivia M replied: "beats me ask a doctor"

Reality Jack replied: "This is really a mystery. You need to be revaluated by the DR's."

caffsans replied: "you have a bad case of something going on there and you should see Dr as things are getting worse instead of better =there might also be some allergies to the medications too"

capper replied: "you may have foot and mouth disease"

betty replied: "well if you have been sexually active and have practiced oral sex with your partener you might have somethings out of the few listed syphilis chlymidia gonneriah chancroid those stds have some/all of the sideaffects of what you have listed. I have no personal expierionce in this but hey I think those are some possabilities."

in lust with love replied: "How the hell should we know? I think maybe u should ask a doctor unless someons on here happens to have a p.h.d theres not much we can do to help you."

Summer G replied: "I cannot remember the exact name of this disease, but if you rinse your mouth with Mylanta or Maalox it tends to neutralize the acidity in your mouth and heal the sores. Just rinse your mouth & spit it out a few times a day!!! Good luck"

JOHNNY Z replied: "it`s either a food allergy or a yeast infection,(thrush).or hate to imply but herpes could be a possibillity!"

nickname replied: "viral infection anything on your feet? "foot and mouth disease""

hotdogsarefree replied: "if your tongue and blisters r white /is coated /that is thrush/and when u talk they bust /and oh my god very very painful/fever indiciates some type of infection/go back to dr or er/high fever is nothing to mess with /good luck"

LovemyBebe replied: "Sometimes people get blisters in their mouth and mouth area from many different viruses. Only testing visually and physically could tell you what you have. Hence the name given, fever blisters. Blisters are symptoms of some viruses and blisters at the same time can be symptoms of your fevers."

I have a real bad fever, my whole body aches..can i use vicodin? has i type this right now im in real bad pain HELP please..my back feels like there punching it!

Damage Inc. replied: "Vicodin isn't going to help the fever just take some tylenol."

Is cloudy head a common symptom of vicodin withdrawals? Read alot about the symptoms like extra pain, vometing, fever, chills, but never says anything about a cloudy head from vicodin withdrawals! Not so worried about extra pain- more worried about going to work and not being sharp. How can I kick this cloudy head! Mabye taper off the meds slower to avoid this symptom?

Al replied: "Have a cup of coffee or green tea or eat an apple. Caffeine helps"

Jo replied: "Ask your doctor to help you out with this one. There are medications that they can give you to lessen withdrawal symptoms. You may have to go through a few days feeling a little out of it and may need to take a sick day or two. You can do this more comfortably if the doc. weans you down. He may go more slowly than you are doing it. You may avoid the fuzzy head this way as well."

Jakala-hole replied: "A cloudy head is more likely the result from taking the pills, not withdrawal. Vicodin withdrawal is a nasty business. Comparable to heroin withdrawal. Considering that the human brain converts both substances into morphine, its really not that surprising. Take my word on this, when your in the withdrawal, YOU'LL KNOW. If its mild, it'll feel like a mild flu, if its not mild, good luck. Its very, very uncomfortable."

My bf has had a fever for a little over two days...how long do you go before you see a doctor? He does not have a runny nose or cold symptoms, just body aches and fever, last night he was shivering uncontrollably but he had a fever. He has been taking vicodin and other over the counter meds to keep his fever down, but it keeps going up? Any advice?

Chewing Gum replied: "He should probably go if the symptoms stay the same or worsen in a day or 2."

baron replied: "Go to the doctor. If it's something serious you would want some lead time on diagnosis and treatment."

immutablesteelflash replied: "How high a fever? Anything over 102, get to a hospital."

Hiroyuki Nakamura replied: "Calcium lactate will help him with the chills/shivering/aches. A fever is just the body's immune system at work. By raising the body's temperature a couple of degrees, you make the body a much less hospitable place for the offending bacteria or virus. If his fever keeps going up, it's most likely because his body is still fighting the bug. A temp greater than 104 is considered to be a high-grade fever and anything over 107.6 is considered a medical emergency. A temp reading of 104 or more OR a fever that persists for more than four or five days should warrant a visit to the doctor. Personally, I'd go sooner just to make sure it's nothing more serious than a fever. In the meantime, stay well hydrated and get lots of rest. Drink lots of liquids. Fresh lemon juice is an excellent source of natural vitamin C. Mushrooms, garlic, and ginger are all good foods to have more of as they all can support the immune system. fever for a week? so i went to the doctor about 4 days ago with a high fever and dry cough without mucus or any phlegm. he prescribed some motrin and hydrocodone (generic to vicodin). my fever has been on and off and my cough only seems to get worse. the doctor said that because i do no have any mucus of phelgm, it is most likely viral. but because it has lasted for a week now, i'm beginning to think that i need to go back to the doctor to find out if it's bacterial. what do you think?

info replied: "Go back to the doctor and get blood test for eveything. Fever is a sign of infection. Get checked out buddy"

Klay replied: "There is certainly something in your system. I would see a new doctor for another opinion. Illness have seemed to linger so much longer this year"

is a root canal supposed to cause you tremendous pain afterward? I had a root canal done 2 days ago and now I'm in worse pain then when I needed it. My ear feels like it's gonna explode and I have a fever that won't go away. The vicodin stopped working yeasterday. The medication works for like 3 hours and the pain is back. Is this normal?

Nalini replied: "mine didn't!"

theoriginalquestmaker replied: "No, go back to you dentist as soon as possible. You definitely shouldn't have a fever."

Beckee replied: "It wasn't my experience with several root canals."

Luke S replied: "yes"

gale1 replied: "Go to the dentist immediately. The fever is an indication of a more serious problem. Don't hesitate even if you wake up tomorrow and the fever is gone. THIS IS NOT NORMAL"

♡TORI♡ replied: "You have an infection. Call your medical hot-line and they will give you the information you need to know. You can find their phone number in your phone book in the first pages of the book, or just call information. I suggest that you phone ASAP because you should not be in pain and the fever indicates an infection which could be serious and requires antibiotics. Please call now."

dental asst replied: "call your dentist...... you might need more antibiotics was the r/c finished?? there might be an accessory canal hmmmmm could this be an ear infection???"

dentalexpress87 replied: "I agree with the above, there could be an accessory canal or the canal has a little hook where the file hasn't quite reached. Has the canal been closed or is it draining ?Please call your dentist, he needs to X-ray asap."

Allergy Relief from Vicodin? I am a severe allergy (hay fever) sufferer and get no relief from most allergy treatments. This year I've had a cotisone injection, Singulair, and take OTC medicine daily. My allergies are still inbearable and at time debilitating. For unrelated reasons I've taken prescription pain killers (Vicodin) during allergy season and noticed that it gets rid of my allergy symptoms 100% for the short-term. My eyes don't itch, my sinuses dry up, etc. I don't know why, but they work. My doctor won't prescribe them to me for my allergies. He acted like I was crazy for asking. If I could just take them on really bad days it would be so helpful. Has anyone else noticed this correlation or know why they help?

Leslie S replied: "I've never heard of this before. Vicodin is a medication that actually has 2 active ingredients in it. One is hydrocodone and the other is acetaminophen (tylenol). Both medications are used for pain...I wouldn't see why it would help at all with your allergies. Interesting....."

bhc32219 replied: "Drug allergies do happen. If your doctor is treating you like you are crazy, FIRE HIM! You might need to stop taking Vicodin and ask your doctor for something else for the pain or get something for the allergies, not OTC. I am taking Zaroxolyn (for heart failure as needed) and I develop hives every time. Most things that touches the body or goes into the body can cause allergies, especially stuff that is manufactured."

Enlarged Lymphnodes, Fever or Unknow origin... HELP!? Ok I will try to make this short. I am a 28 year old female and mother of 2. I am overweight and I have some issues with my menstrual cycle (PCOS). I have had enlarged lymphnodes especially the right epitrohclear (sp?) node in my right arm it is about 3 cm long by 1 cm wide. I have had a fever for about 15 days Despite piroxicam and Vicodin with Tylenol. It has been low grade 99.5-100.5, but still makes me feel crummy. I have sweats, join pain, muscle pain, headache. I am totally lethargic, no appetite. I have been seeing and Infectious disease /gp doc I have had every blood test you could imagine. From infectious, Zoonotic, blood cultures, autoimmune etc. The only abnormal results so far is my inflammatory markers are elevated. I have no obvious infection any where. I am awaiting the results of a neck, chest, abdomen, pelvic CT with barium and contrast. I am concerend about Lymphoma. Can anyone offer any advice while I wait. I can't take this anymore. I am on 20mg Piroxicam once a day, Vicodin with Tylenol, I just finished 5 days of provera to get my menstrual cycle to arrive it is over 20 days late and I am not pregnant. I have PCOS. Why is the pain and fever breaking through all of this?

Emmah replied: "It is difficult to diagnose here, and the stress and worry will sometimes effect your menstral cycle, among other things. I would seek another individual to help you figure out what it is that is going on. Ask your doctor for a referal to another professional. Remember just because the test is negative doesn't mean it's actuallt negative."

quijibored replied: "Here is a great web page that was helpful to me during a period of illness with fevers of unknown origin. It lists all the various possibilities and helps you to know which tests might be helpful in determining the cause of your fevers. When I was sick for weeks with repeated FUO and a CBC did not help find the cause, after reading this article I asked my Dr to do a SED rate and EBV and CMV testing. Turned out that I had acute adult mononucleosis. Good luck with your search. "

Diane T replied: "It's time for another doctor, ask lots of questions and don't stop asking until you find out what is wrong with you. I would have that lump taken out and if it was me. Any lump is not a good thing."

Ms. Serene replied: "Lumps are bad. However, as a Hodgkins Lymphoma survivor, I had those lumps and then they went away, they reappeared later in the groin area, thought it was a hernia, then learned about cancer. CT scan will be the best way to know."
