Yasmin As A Morning After Pill Facts in Questions
Just wondering if the brand "Yasmin" can be used as a morning after pill? Is it true that the morning after pilll can be taken 72 hours afterwards? Do you only take one pill? Which Australian brands are the morning after pill? Meaning what names should I be looking for? What's the difference between the morning after pill and just The Pill? Thanks! Is it true that the morning after pilll can be taken 72 hours afterwards, if so will it still be effective if taken exactly three days afterwards? Do you only take one pill? Which Australian brands are the morning after pill? Meaning what names should I be looking for? What's the difference between the morning after pill and just The Pill?

theSpaGirl replied: "The morning after pill contains a specific hormone. It has to be taken WITHIN 72 hours for it to work properly. I would not trust Yasmin to work the same way. The idea of the morning after pill is to cause your period to start & clear everything out. Do some research on the web to see what else it could be called."

NavyWife replied: "When I was on yasmin, my doctor told me to take 4 of them, then 12 hours later take 4 more. it has the same strength as one of the other pills. It will make you want to throw up, depending on when you take them, but be careful not to, otherwise it doesn't work.Good Luck!"

Can you take the morning after pill whist on 'Yasmin' the birth control pill? If you missed one of you 'Yasmin' birth control pills and had sexual intercourse can you take the 'Morning After Pill' and still continue wiith your Yasmin'?

Jess replied: "Usually, when missing one birth control pill on your cycle-doesn't make a big difference since you still have it in your system. It's two that i've heard you need to be precautious about. Although, just to be safe-yes defaintely take the morning after pill. And keep taking your yasmin regular too."

Tally replied: "I HIGHLY recommend you go see your doctor instead of asking here. Taking the morning after pill is like taking a month supply of birth control. It is really not good for your body at all. So you should go see your doctor and they'll tell you what to do. People here don't know how your body is how much dose your body can handle of birth control, only your doctor knows. If for some reason you just don't feel like calling your doctor, then at least ask the pharmacist when you go buy the morning after pill and they'll be able to tell you more information about it."

MacBook Heck Yes. replied: "What i've heard is that the morning after pill is just a high dose of your birth control. - 2 bc pills. So i've heard that taking both bc pill on the next scheduled day is like the same thing as take the morning after. BUT I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE. Asking a pharmacist would be fast and they'd probably be able to give you a direct and conclusive answer."

Katie replied: "If you only missed one pill just take two the following day. You can miss up to three. Ive done that and taken two as soon as I remembered and the last one that night before bed. I recently took the morning after pill because I had unprotected sex while on antibiotics and an oral contraceptive and I'm fine. This is the first time Ive had to take plan b and my first scare so I was really freaking out but as far as I know I had no side affects from taking it. Its just a really high dose of birth control so taking your missed pill with your regular one would be like doing the same thing. If I were you Id just take the two birth control pills together and forget the morning after pill. If you really wanna take it wait a couple hours after your birth control because the high does of all those pills might make you feel sick. Good Luck!"

can you continue your birth control if you just got the morning after pill? i was 13 days into taking the yasmin birth control pill...and i just had sex unprotected last night..so i got the morning after pill today...for some reason the doctor said i should stop taking the yasmin pill until i get my period and then start a whole new pack....why?

Toralinda replied: "The morning-after pill has a higher dose of the hormones than your birth control pill even, so if you take the two together, you'll be overloaded. It would be sort of like overdosing on a drug, except with hormones. =) When you get your period, it's a sign that the hormones from the pill have mostly left your body, so then it's safe to start taking the birth control again because you'll be back to normal in regards to hormones."

OC949 replied: "why would you take the morning after pill when you are on birth control? Yes you need to start it over when you get your period next - this is because your body is totally confused."

The morning after pill and the contraceptive pill? I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend around six weeks ago but took the morning after pill the next day. It was when I has stopped taking the contraceptive pill Yasmin as it wasn't working well with my body. I still haven't had a period since then what should I do? Could I be pregnant or is my body just still reacting t coming off the pill and having the morning after pill?

Chez replied: "I am pretty sure that can happen after taking the morning after pill, but i reckon if you are worried then you should go to your GP to be on the safe side."

Rusty_Tiara replied: "It could be a reation of the 2 pills, id take a test to put your mind at ease and check websites on the symptoms of pregnancy. remember stress can delay periods too."

Leah H replied: "take a test! it probably is your body just getting itself back to normal espeically if you stopped your other pill x"

Vanessa H replied: "No the morning after pill should not affect you having a period. Now if the Yasmin messed up your period when you were on it then thats probably why you have not had a period. It takes about 30-90 days for the birth control to leave your body."

Dr Frank replied: "The morning after pill is not 100% either, it may be a hormone issue but you do need to do a pregnancy test to exclude pregnancy."

Rhianna_Returns replied: "The morning after Pill isn't 100%. One should always take a pregnancy test after taking the morning after Pill. The morning after Pill can cause a disruption to the cycle. You need to take a test."

Does the morning-after pill, effect the contraceptive pill, yasmin? I started my pill last friday, but not the beginning of my period, so had to take the pill for 7 days before i could have unprotected sex. Wed night i accidently had unprotected sex with boyfriend, so had to take the morning-after pill. How long should i leave it before i can start having unprotected sex without the risk of falling pregnant. I'm on my 9th day of taking the pill now. Would the morning-after pill have affected the efficiency of the contraceptive pill at all? Thanks for all your help in advance :-)

? replied: "you need to be careful,There is a very strong possibility that you will get a bleed soon. However you will have to start the pack again from the begining for 7 days and continue it for 21 as if you are starting a new pack..So u need 7 days of protection. But you better consult your GP."

Birth control pills as the morning after pill? They don't sell the morning after pill where I live, so I took 3 Yasmin Birth Control pills, and 7 hours later I took 2 more, hoping high dosages can work as the morning after. How long and how many BC pills am I supposed to take to have that effect? And it's 6 am here, I've been up since 3am feeling EXTREMELY nauseous...can I throw up without losing the effects? If not how long am I supposed to feel this nauseous? Its been 7and a half hours since I took the second dosage of pills, is it safe to throw up now? This sick feeling is killing me....

Starkissed replied: "Usually it's about 5 regular birth control pills to equal the amount of hormones in the Plan B pills. I wouldn't throw up because it could take your body a long time to absorb all the hormones from the pill. I recommend buying an extra Plan B pill to keep just in case you need it. It's usually less nauseating than taking lots of birth control pills."

Jessica R replied: "do NOT take anything else! you most likely will puke, but that is also a side effect of the morning after pill. look up dosages of the morning after pill online and compare them to your birth control pills. regardless, do not take anymore! you are just making yourself sick."

Chandlers221 replied: "I know you are not in the US but here is a website I found. I don't see Yasmin on the list. I swear its I normal safe site....I wouldn't do anything mean like that."

Big Bad Wolfy replied: ""Emergencry Contraception: Pill brands, doses and instructions." YASMIN® (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol tablets) does not seem to be on this site."

dancingzorba2 replied: "Why would you do something so stupid? Call the paramedics, you might overdose on the pills."
