why did neutrogena discontinue the acne patch? neutrogena on the spot acne patch

in love with a vampire replied: "probably didnt work"

daffodil replied: "I don't know why they were discontinued either, but I've got about 7 more boxes stashed away. they were fantastic and worked better than any other zit product I've ever used. also, they didn't make my laundry turn funny colors or make my face scaley."

Why were overnight acne patches discontinued by manufacturers? Does anyone know why overnight acne patches are no longer available? I have looked everywhere for Clean and Clear Overnight Acne Patches, Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Patch and Biore Blemish Bomb and found that they all have been discontinued. Is there anywhere I can buy these discontinued products?

Boxercurl replied: "I don't know but I LOVED those too!! Please let me know if you find them."

xox.FeLiCiA.xox replied: "i cant answer your question lol but i can say that if you need something to help your acne to try acne no more cause ive never in my life used anything that works better! and i think more ppl need to use it and stop stressing so much cause of acne :)"

is this skin routine bad for my face? at night: step 1:wash my face with; neutrogena's pink grapefruit acne wash foaming scrub step 2:moisturizer: pond's dry skin cream step 3:treatment: neutrogena on the spot acne treatment on sunday nights: i use st. i'ves invigorating apricot scrub then step 2&3 morning: step 1: brush my teeth, wash my face with neutrogena pink grapefruit acne wash foaming scrub step 2: moisturizer: neutrogena healthy defense spf 30 non tinted step 3: put concealer undereyes & if i have blemishes or i let my skin breathe skin type; dry patches from face wash, some blemishes, white spots[or sunspots i don't really know what its called], undereye circles if my routine is bad can you help me fix it?

Haley Grace replied: "Sounds fine but I would moisturize last because Alto of the time acne treatments etc. can dry out the face because most have alcohol in them."

sunshine ツ replied: "it seems fine. however, if you've noticed that your blemishes have increased then you can switch to a different face wash, because lots of facial washes dry out your skin and cause breakouts."

samanthajay replied: "you dont need all those products. stick to ONE 3-step routine, and you'll be just fine. Otherwise, your skin will most likely get irritated."

lol! replied: "I think you're fine, just don't use the neutrogena acne wash too much, especially if you're skin isn't oily or breaking out because it can really dry your skin. Also, if you do have blemishes, don't wear concealer (it'll take longer to get rid of them), especially on the weekends. And if you do happen to wear concealer, remove it as soon as you can (like right after you come home from school). hope this helps"

Audrey W replied: "sounds great!"

HELP with Acne?!? Ok so I have acne. I have bumps (open comodones as my doc calls them) in my t-zone region (forhead, cheeks but only small patches right next to my nose, and chin) I take the arbonne daily suppliment to clear it up but I think I am becoming immune to it because lately (the last month) I have been breaking out really really bad! I've even been breaking out in places that I normally don't like my hair line and the sides of my mouth! My doc. said just use a face soap and then use an acne spot treatment. Well I have been using the clearasil tinted acne spot treatment I cover the areas where I'm breaking out and when i'm done basically I'm covering my entire face with the junk. So I get up in the morning and wash it off with this orange neutrogena face wash and my entire face is all flaky!! The docotor did say it would do this and my skin needs to get used to it but I've been using it for a month and its still bad! I still have the acne and the flakes! Help?!?

Brooke W replied: "Use the Nutregena wave, it's what I use and it works really well!"

lvl7prep replied: "the flakes are just dry skin! i really don't like any of those cheep products i like using stuff that works! so i use clinique! it helps for me sometimes and it also can come w/ a moisterizer that helps w/ all the flakeys! but also don't forget to use your dermatologist recomended spot treatment!"

Maria L replied: "You might be using too many products, which dries out your skin, and in response your skin produces oil...thus the zits. I don't think skin becomes immune. I have no idea what to tell you, because I'm not doin so great myself."

Ansley replied: "Neutragena Wave works well."

kksweetie1331 replied: "if your face flakes, you might need to use a scrub to get rid of the flakes and use a good mostiurizer."

anthony b replied: "use bye bye blemish"

d_ut replied: "Try these acne tips "

Full of Questions... replied: "For the flakes of dry skin, you should exfoleate your face daily. I dont like using store bought exfoleater, cuz its just a waste of money. I use sugar. You get your face and hands wet, put your fingers in the sugar, and scrub on your face. Rinse it off, and you will have a clean layer of skin. This is really just getting rid of your layer of dead skin on top. Then use face wash, i use clean and clear, and your skin will be healthier in no time!"

~~ Angie~~ replied: "Have u tried the face wash from Arbonne or even the lotion. I like the lotion as a spot treatment. For me it works great! I also have noticed that when I change tooth paste I will break out around my mouth (just a thought) As for the hair line make sure when u wash your hair to scrub there and that should help. It does for me at least!"

HMako replied: "I'm not sure how old you are, but you may want to talk with your Arbonne consultant about the progesterone cream. Sometimes acne can be caused by hormonal imbalances. If you are interested in more information about this, feel free to let me know."

Acne: Help me Please!? PLEASE READ ON! I know this is really long, sorrry, but I really need help on this. I am 14. I have pretty moderate acne on my forehead, and my chin. I also have blackheads on my nose. I have a few small dry patches that show if I use makeup, but mainly, my skin is pretty oily. I have tried a lot of individual products and "systems;" AcneFree, Neutrogena, Clean and Clear, Kiss My Face, Burts Bees, Nature's Gate, Murad, neaclear, Alba, and probably more that I can't remember right now. I have found out many things in my experience of using these many products. 1. Benzoyl Peroxide does not work for my skin. 2. Salicylic Acid helps with the redness, but does not get rid of the actual pimples. This obviously poses a problem, because these are the two main ingredients in just about every acne treatment. That is why I am thinking of starting a whole new regimen. I want to have a cleanser, a toner, and a moisturizer. A spot/night treatment would be great too. I don't want a system or anything like that, because I want to be able to tailor all of the ingredients myself. I found out about some ingredients that are very beneficial for the skin, and was wondering if there are any more that I have forgotten, or any more that would be even better. Please correct me if I am wrong. 1. Tea Tree Oil- could be used as a spot/night treatment 2. Sulfur- could be used in a cleanser or moisturizer 3. Witch Hazel, Rosewater- could be used in a toner I heard about this thing called the Oil Cleansing Method...it's where you use oil to dissolve oil. My parents (who are scientists) think this actually does make sense. I have tried the method before, but gave up after not long because I wasn't seeing fast improvements and it was hard to maintain. So I was thinking of getting an cleanser with essential oils in it that I could use to "dissolve" the oil on my skin. If I get a cleanser like this, should I use a foamy one afterwards to get rid of excess oil? Also, I need a moisturizer. My skin is very oily, so pretty much all moisturizers highlight that and my skin becomes very shiny by the end of the day. I was thinking that If I use an actual oil as a moistuizer, it would help balance my skin's natural oils and stop excess oil making. What would be the best oil to use? I heard that jojoba oil is like the skin's oil, but very heavy...I need something that will moisturize but won't make me shiny. I'm talking something that I can rub into my skin- no rinsing afterwards. So would this be an okay regimen?: 1. Cleanser, with: -Sulfur -Tea Tree Oil 2. Toner, with: -Witch Hazel -Rose/Orange Water -Tea Tree Oil 3. Moisturizer, with: -Sulfur -Jojoba Oil, some other good oil? 4. Spot/night Treatment, with: -Tea Tree Oil -Aloe -Any other intensive beneficial ingredients? (I need to be able to use this without my skin getting used to it and the effects wearing off!) Please give me more suggestions for good ingredients to look for. Also, if you have products that you know have the ingredients I want, please suggest them! NO suggestions to Proactiv kind of stuff. I've tried those things already.

Angel1 replied: "Go to a doctor you never know you might have skin cancer if you go out alot or just try a different soap and try to pop it and if it bleeds it means you haven't got all the puss. I have it on my chin. It's very aggravating. I hope this helps. Good Luck!"

Lil Libra14 replied: "Not sure where you can get all of that other stuff but to help you straight up with acne I would recommend NEUROSKIN Acne Treatment seriously it works I used it because I was getting frustrated with acne I would even bother them so much that I would end up scratching them and they would look so nasty! I would recommend NEUROSKIN Acne Treatment buy it from the company because retailers want to sell it for $40.00 while the company sales it for $19.95\ It will really work PROMISE!"

Laura replied: "I've been in that situation and there is really nothing you can do about it. There are things you can do to try to reduce the blemishes and get rid of acne/pimples temporarily but you will always be finding yourself cleaning your face or your body depending on where it's at. I mean of course your acne should go away eventually but for some this is the case their whole life. I'm 29 years old and have been suffering from these little pests since I was a teenager. I tried all sorts of face washes from the local grocery store and what not, but nothing seemed to work. If anything it would just make my skin dry and itchy. Literally the best acne face wash I've ever used has been this stuff called clearpores. It has got rid of the acne to quickest and has been a success ever since I got it. It's unique cause of it's herbal supplement you take a long with it that helps your skin from the inside out. I saved money on it at skincleansingsystem.com at the time which was helpful. You should really look into this stuff and if you can to assure the best results, get the 3 month supply because if it doesn't work it will still save you butt on the return policy. Well good luck and best wishes."

Tuesday Smith replied: "Where to start! Well, first, you don't want to irritate your skin more with too many products or too much cleansing. People with oily/problem skin usually get into a bad cycle - the skin produces too much oil, so you scrub to get the oil off, which in turn dries out your skin, your skin produces excess oil, so you scrub to get the oil off... I'm not suggesting you shouldn't clean your skin, but just be careful that you don't irritate it more. I'm a huge fan of some of your ideas - they would have been my suggestions! Jojoba oil is wonderful. It's my absolute favorite carrier oil. I've been using it to clean my skin for 8 or so years now. At first, I was skeptical, because I had oily skin, but it's really great. My skin is balanced now - I think it's the oil, but I can't say for sure it wasn't just me getting older. I also love pure castille soap for washing, and witch hazel for a toner. In the morning, I use liquid castille soap in the shower (it's basically just oil with parts removed) with tea tree added to it. After, I use jojoba as a moisturizer. I put anywhere from 3-10 drops on a cotton pad, moisten it with water to help it spread, and apply it to my face. At night, I just use the jojoba as a cleanser. I add a few more drops than I would use in the morning, moisten, apply, then flip the cotton pad over and wipe away the excess oil. I don't use a toner at all anymore, but if I did, I'd use it in between the shower and the jojoba application in the morning and I'd skip it completely at night. I'd also skip the spot treatment at night, and instead add some tea tree or lavender (or both) essential oils to the jojoba. Or make a little bottle with a stronger essential oil/jojoba blend to use as a spot treatment. So, basically I suggest this: Cleanser - pure castille soap. Either tea tree or lavender, or plain and you can add the essential oils to it. Toner - pure witch hazel, and add the essential oils to it. Moisturizer (and/or cleanser) - jojoba oil with essential oils added to it If you try jojoba (which I think you should!), start small. Start with say, just 1 or 2 drops for your whole face. See how that goes - you can always add more."

URGENT foundation help!? (revlon, loreal, neutrogena, others?)? alrighty(: well i have normal/combo skin thats not sensitive. i get strange dry paches so my foundation gets flakey in those spots and it looks really bad): oh yeah, i dont really have acne i get like 2 or three red zit once a month, i just have some whiteheads (ewww lol) && my cheeks are kinda red so i want to cover that up a little! so im on the market for a new foundation, and im gunna be going out soon to buy some more. in a foundation im looking for it to be: *semi liquidy/runny (custom creations is too thick) * natural looking so it looks like my own skin (not mask like or overly perfect if you know what im talking about! this is my MAJOR concern.) * i dont want it to be cakey or be ugly on my dry patches! these are the choices that i have narrowed it down to: 1. neutrogena healthy skin liquid makeup 2. neutrogena skinclearing makeup 3. revlon colorstay liquid foundation (im just worried it will be mask like) 4. loreal truematch p.s if you wanna recomend something else, go ahead, but i cant afford exspensive foundations, and im going to target. thanks a bunch!! i am also thinking about covergirl trublend liquid foundation i do moisterise every morning and sometimes night too

There is that maybelline foundation, ive forgotten what its called, but its made of 70% water i think? and it has a light coverage and doesnt damage your skin. maybe give that a go :-] definately go for trublend! :D hope that helped!"

[the original] Ashley replied: "do you use a moisturizer? you should, especially since you say you get flakey patches on your skin. try looking for an oil free moisturizer to help your natural skin condition before putting anything else on it. from there, maybe try a loose powder foundation, like the mineral powder one Maybeline makes. whats nice about mineral foundation is you don't need a lot to cover whatever you want to cover, and you can build it up from light to heavier coverage. also, I love using mineral powder because I mix a little in with my moisturizer to make a tinted moisturizer. I find this works best and gives the most natural effect, and you end up using less makeup so you don't have to buy more as often. you could always dust on some of the powder after the homemade tinted moisturizer if you need more too. I would stay away from the Neutrogena skinclearing makeup - that has a tiny bit of acne meds in it, if I'm not mistaken, which will dry out your dry patches more and maybe even dry out the rest of your skin."

They look natural and do a good job covering. Just make sure you get the right color for your skin tone. If I feel I need more coverage I use the Maybalene liguid makeup that is 90% water that some one else mentioned and then use some of the mineral powder. Hope you find something that works! Oh I also liked the Covergirl or maybe it was maybalene...whipped foundation. It came in a little circular jar and the top was a peachy light nutral color. Not much help...sorry!"

Combination skin problem? I have combination skin, dry between my nose and lips, and on my chin, to the point where it is tight and flaky. But my nose is normal-to-greasy and my cheeks and forehead are normal and mostly flawless. The dry spots have light small acne scars and patches of redness sometimes, and some tiny whiteheads. It is very annoying and never goes away, most acne treatments just dry out my skin more. Is there a good clarifying acne brand that is easily accesible ... like Pro-Activ, does that work, Clinique, Neutrogena, Johnson's?? Or an oral supplement? Do those work? I really just want to make my skin evenly textured, not dry, and clear. Thanx xxx :) Anna

morgan replied: "Yes pro-activ works, but it really dries out your face. I would recommend neutrogena or st. ive's. I would also recommend getting one for sensitive skin. It will still give great results, but it won't be as harsh on your skin! :)"

acne and dry skin? so, recently i have begun breaking out on my cheeks, along with dry skin in the areas where im breaking out. i have some medium sized, annoying pimples, as well as small, under the skin ones. i'm unsure about what to use at night to get rid of the breakouts, because i don't want to irritate the dry patches any more than they already are, but i really wouuld like to get rid of, or at least diminish the appearance of my breakouts. i use neutrogena cleanser at night, and then i use salycic acid treatment on the spots where i'm breaking out. but im starting to wonder if the sacilyic acid is making it more dry? i don't know how else to treat the blemishes while also healing my dry skin. it's extremely aggravating!!! if anyone could help it would be wonderful. thank you!!

Dry Skin tips... Moistening herbs and foods are soy, spinach, asparagus, millet, barley, salt, seaweed, apple, tangerine, pinenut, persimmon, peanut, pear, honey, oysters, and clams. Tina B replied: "Try one of the lines like clean and clear or neutrogena if cost is an issue, however, PROACTIVE is awesome!!!!!!!!! It is important to remember that even problem skin needs moisture and nourishment. NOT OIL but water moisture. Always Cleanse Tone and Moisturize/treat. Also you MUST exfoliate with a scrub, this removes the dry patchy dead skin. Your skin is probably not dry, but instead needs exfoliation. The exfoliating also stimulates the cell metabolism(very good thing to do). In your case I recommend clean and clear with microscrubbers because it is not harsh and contains blemish fighting ingredients. DO NOT be alarmed if you break out at first, the skin will start to purge itself...this is a good thing. BE PERSISTANT. Also be very aware of EVERYTHING that touches your skin. I have my clients change their pillowcase EVERY night and use only 100% cotton and white pillow cases!!!!!!! Think about it, you lay there all night with infected pustules(ZITS) then come back and do that again, and if you have a pet and it was there while you were gone or your little brother snuck in and layed on your pillow.....YUCK!!! I am an esthetician( 19 years now) and I HAVE problem skin. Proactive is a MIRACLE!. It works for almost everybody and the mask is great for trouble shooting at night. It is a little more pricey but WORTH IT!!! Email me if you have any more questions. I became an esthetician to help people with problem skin."

Naomi replied: "This is called the honey mask: You will need PURE honey as it will dehydrate your skin and clear your blemishes and about half of a banana; the banana will moisturize your skin. Mix both together in a small bowl and put it on your face for 10 minutes, make sure you get it everywhere on your face especially the areas where you have the blemishes/acne. After 10 minutes, rinse it off with a gentle cleanser (I recommend cetaphil or st. ives apricot cleanser because it washes away the dirt and oil on your face and cleans your face); also while you are rinsing your face, use luke warm water and then cold water to open and close your open to prevent acne. After that, take some clean and clear persa gel 10 (works awesome!) and put that on before going to bed, next morning, rinse off and I swear your skin will feel sooo smooth and soft, also it will feel much more fresher and it will look radiant and clear your acne! Also dont touch yoru skin because your hands contain natural oils on it which causes acne and oily skin, so avoid touching it! And wash your face twice a day, morning and night"

tinklesdavis replied: "All those acids can really do a number on delicate skin areas such as cheeks. I recommend using Burts Bees Peach and Willowbark Deep Pore Scrub. Though I have only been using it for about a month now. My skin is the cleanest and clearest it has ever been. Its all natural and they don't test on animals and after you use it I swear you face will feel amazingly clean and also hydrated and not dry. Keep with it every night and your skin should be clear. If you don't want to buy online. You can buy it at Target or Ulta. Good luck..."

Meg replied: "Salicylic acid IS drying out your skin...which you want for the acne, but not for the dry skin. I recommend Clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion. I use a small amount of it on my face after whatever regimen I happen to be on (whether it was when I was on a super oil day, or an Accutane "my skin HURTS it's so dry" day) and my skin is so much better. Because your skin is so dry, your body is trying to produce extra oil to moisturize it...but it is backfiring and causing acne instead. By moisturizing, you prevent your skin from producing all that extra oil."

May replied: "This is what I do: Mix baking soda and witch hazel/or water together until it comes to a good constancy, and then spread on your face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. these two things are very inexpensive and it's very easy to do since there is only two ingredients. Toothpaste is good for drying out your pimple (for some people). Put only a little bit before you go to sleep. Some people use this as a mask but DON‘T EVER DO THIS! It can change your skin tone and make your face discolored. Aloe vera helps scars lighten and less noticeable (lemon, cocoa butter, witch hazel, and tea tree oil do the same thing). Use the gel (of the aloe plant) or the real thing. Try to buy a cleanser that works for you, and when you wash your face, open your pores with hot water (not too hot, or it will dry out your skin) and massage it gently into your skin. Then, use cold water at the end to close you pores. The smaller your pores are, the less likely you're prone to pimples. Clearasil, Neutrogena, and proactive are good choices to start if you want a cleanser. Don't use body soaps because they dry out your skin. Don't scrub too hard either, because it can irritate your skin. An egg yoke can be used to make you pores smaller. I used this when I had pimples. Just take the egg yolk (the yellow part) and leave it on your face for 10-15 minutes and rinse off with warm water and then splash your face with cold water. Keep your hair out of your face because the oils in your hair could go into your pores. Change you sheets because they're are trapped with dirt, oils, etc. Zinc (type of vitamin) is the one of the best things you can use to get rid of pimples. You can buy these almost about any large store (such as Wal-Mart or Shaws.) Have one tablet per day and try to cut down the junk food and replace it with vegetables and fruits. Drink lots of water and don't pop you acne. Popping acne can lead to acne scars. If you have sensitive skin, don't use make up. Some of the things in make up can clog your pores and cause pimples. Keep your hands out of your face as much as you can because you hands a full of bacteria and oils."

Dry, rough patches on my face; help!? Lately I've finally gotten my acne under control, but these mysterious dry patches keep showing up. My skin is normal in my T-zone area and outer face, but I am getting dry patches near my mouth. I have tried exfoliating, moisturizing, and have religiously been applying Vaseline to these areas. Occasionally the patches dissapear, but they show up within 1-2 days. It is hard for me to put makeup on now (because it shows up.) I've had this for about 6 months now. Please help! My skin care routine [at night]: - Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser - Clean and Clear Daily Scrub; Morning Burst - (sometimes) Sheer Cover Conditioning Cleanser - Neutrogena Pore Minimizing Toner - Clean and Clear Astringent+ Spot treatment - Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion - Neutrogena Anti-wrinkle Cream (night) - Vaseline + Topical Medication (sulfur?)

Kyle K replied: "Visit the clinic and get the doctor to prescribe a new medication, because you might be getting rashes from one of the lotions or creams. Rub them on a place on your body that is not noticeable and see if any rashes occur. It could be dangerous to continue using these medications."

When i was little I went to the doctor and she prescribed me Elocon or Momotesone Furoate. dont use so much cleanser and what not JUst cetaphil for washing and Lubiderm for lotion. Also for body wash try and use light ones like dove."

bryseana replied: "Is it eczema? A dermatologist could give a diagnosis. If so, less is more when treating it, because your skin is extra sensitive to dyes, fragrances and chemicals. Sometimes skin irritations like patches, rashes, etc... are an indication of an allergy or sensitivity to something. It could be a response to one of the products you're using. Food and environmental allergies are a factor as well. Stress can also trigger skin reactions. It helps to apply a moisturizer to your face while it's wet. It absorbs better that way."

Emily replied: "Try getting some cortisone cream and applying on the affected areas a few times a day (you can get more stronger cortisone creams too). It should clear up in 1-2 weeks."

is my face oily or dry? :S? when I wake up my face is shiny (with oil I assume) so I wash it with a clean and clean cleanser which is oil free. After putting some oil-free Neutrogena moisturer on, I notice there are some dry patches. If I scratch them the skin like flakes off... ? When I put foundation on it makes those "dry spots" obvious. Btw I don't have acne.

Lifesworthit. replied: "well doctors determine dont get mahjor with ur face. like dont put so much cream on or somthing. and dont over wash ur face. just wash it about twice daily; and dont put anything on until the dry skin fades."

Sue Ellie replied: "i read that even though you may have oily skin, you should still use a moisturizer, it seems to make your skin lessoily. go figure...but I have done this for years."

Chloe replied: "Combination, I have the same skin, I only use lotion in the places where my face gets dry so the oily parts don't get more oily. Those face blotter paper thingys help for the oily parts."

Kayla Bear RAwr replied: "Sounds like your an oily skin type,... however, you're drying out your skin too much. "Oil-free" products aren't neccessarily products that don't contain oil. Most of them contain ingredients that dry out the skin,.. ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide (a popular drying agent used in skin care.) If your cleanser contains benzoyl peroxide, toss it. It's a pretty harsh ingredient to have in a cleanser. What happens is that if you dry out your skin too much, your oil/sweat glands go into over-drive and produce even more oil to compensate the dryness,.. even if you have dry patches. Avoid using too many products that say "oil-free" at once. Like I said, discard your cleanser if it has benzoyl peroxide. Try finding a cleanser that contains salicylic acid (an exfoliating agent used in skin care.) Salicylic acid will get down into your pores and push out the excess oils, bacteria, etc without drying out your face. You can still have an oil-free moisturizer. I would avoid using a cleanser that dries out the skin, although,... it's tempting if you're oily. I know. But a cleanser won't make you less or more oily. Unfortunately. You need to find other ways to reduce oil. Such as exfoliating. Having a good skin care routine. Using those little pad things to soak up the oil. Using a powder foundation that will also soak up the oil. In the end, your oil protects your skin. You don't want to completely strip your skin of it's protective barrier and making it vulnerable bacteria, wrinkles, germs, etc. Good luck. Hope I helped. :)"
